Terms — Local Subtitles

Terms of use

DraftThese terms cover the free version, which is what is currently available. The paid plan is not on sale yet; purchase terms will be added before checkout opens and should be reviewed by a lawyer first.

What Local Subtitles is

Local Subtitles is a browser-based tool that produces subtitle files from audio and video using automatic speech recognition. It is offered as-is. Speech recognition is imprecise by nature: transcripts will contain errors, particularly with background noise, overlapping speakers, accents and specialist vocabulary. You are responsible for checking the output before you use it.

Your content

You keep all rights to the files you process and to the subtitles produced from them. Because processing happens on your device, no licence to your content is granted to us — we never receive it. You are responsible for having the right to transcribe the material you use.

Availability

The free version is provided without any guarantee of availability or continued operation. Features may change.

Liability

Liability is limited to intent and gross negligence. For slight negligence, liability applies only where a material contractual obligation is breached, and is then limited to typical, foreseeable damage. Liability under the German Product Liability Act and for injury to life, body or health remains unaffected.
